My name is Nerea Hernando Fernandez and I am from Spain. I am going to study my masters in the USA, at Barry University, and need to purchase a insurance plan that covers all the health requirements for international students established by my university. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
All international students with an F-1 or J-1 visa must enroll in the Barry Primary Student Insurance Plan unless they have the following:
An insurance plan through a reputable U.S. insurance company with a U.S. claims agent and payable directly to physicians and hospitals in U.S. dollars, such as Aetna International, Cigna, United, or Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Plans that require the patient to pay the physician and then reimburse the patient (pay them back) are not accepted.
All insurance policies must meet the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
Insurance benefits must be comparable to the Barry Student Insurance plan through United Health Care:
The insurance company must be licensed to do business in the state of Florida.
Be continuous for an entire academic year (August – August)
Include access to primary care (hospital emergency room only care is not comparable coverage)
Include inpatient hospital coverage of 80% of usual and customary reimbursement
Include prescription medications at a local pharmacy
Include inpatient and outpatient mental health benefits(including alcohol and substance abuse treatment)
Have an individual deductible not to exceed $2,500 per policy year
Include maternity benefits (women only)
Repatriation expenses of $10,000
Medical evacuation of $10,000
I hope you can help me with this and offer me some plan. Thank you in advance.
Best Regards, Nerea
