The Patriot Exchange plan is a very economical plan that can be used to meet J visa requirements and for international students. The plan can be purchased for the J2 visa holder as long as the J1 visa holder already has coverage from their institution. The deductible is only $100 with no further costs for the insured(most plans have coinsurance which still must be paid after the deductible. Also, if the institution has a health centre, you can pay only a $5 copay for each visit for additional benefit and savings. You can purchase this plan with a sports rider to cover such activities such as downhill skiing. All these benefits make it a popular and excellent choice. If you want a specific quote, we would need to know your age and the # of months you need the insurance.
I am starting a postdoctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University soon and I am searching for a health insurance for my wife (she has a J-2 visa). Our requirement is the coverage of pregnancy-related costs. Since the university pays for my insurance, I would like to buy it only for my wife.
Can You please tell me whether you have such insurance in your offer?
Could You please tell me where can I find the PPO list?
Best regards, Michael
Thank you for contacting us at American Student Insurance for your travel health insurance needs! The plan I recommend for your wife is the Student Health Advantage Platinum. The coverage for maternity expenses is 80/20 split in the PPO and 60/40 split outside the network. The insurance plan will pay 80% or 60% for maternity expenses while the insured pays 20% or 40%.
My friend Bolot is interested in this insurance plan for his spouse who will be coming the U.S. on a J-2 dependent visa. Is this plan for inbound international exchange visitors and will it cover them while in the U.S.?
Thanks Erin Thomas
Thank you for contacting us for your insurance needs. The Patriot Exchange insurance plan is offered by International Medical Group (IMG) and provides comprehensive insurance for international students (F1 visa) and J1 visa scholars in the USA. It satisfies J visa and most US university requirements and is hugely popular. It is also a policy which a J2 visa holder can purchase without the J1 visa holder as the primary insured. If there is a health center available, the insured only pays a $5 copay instead of the $100 deductible. This and many other benefits make it a very economical and excellent choice for J visa holders. You can definitely suggest this plan for your friend's spouse. Here are the links and information for that policy:
