The Student Secure Budget or Select both cover maternity. They differ in their coverage of newborn care. The Student Select Budget would cost $2200 for your family. This one has only $300,000 for the F1 primary and $50,000 for dependents. Admittedly, a pregnancy will likely cost in the $50,000 price range or less.
Another student plan which covers maternity is the Student Health Advantage. It does not have different maximums for dependents and covers newborn care to the limit of the plan. It will cost about $3,456 for your family for 9 months.
Please let us know if we can help you in any further. With these policies, if you purchase at least three months the first time you make a purchase you will be able to renew the plans for a $5 fee. Plans can only be purchased for whole months.
Health insurance for student and family with maternity coverage
I am a student coming to US with my family. I am looking a good health insurance plan for me and family with maternity coverage. Can you help with this?
Thank you for your inquiry to American Student Insurance. We offer insurance from various highly rated insurance companies which allows you to compare prices and options to find the policy that meets your needs and budget.
Unfortunately, there is only one option that covers women who are already pregnant. This is the Atlas America policy and it only covers "complications of pregnancy in the first 26 weeks of gestation" and so is a very limited option. Obviously, if the pregnancy is already beyond the first two months, this will not cover it. You can purchase this policy here:
If, on the other hand, you are considering becoming pregnant and want to be sure you have insurance that will cover it, there are options available. If you are a student enrolled full time in a college, then there is only a 90 day waiting period for the pregnancy to be covered. You can find quotes for student insurance here:
