Hello, I'm coming to be a visiting scholar in University of Pittsburgh for 1 year. My wife is coming with me, and we are going to have a second baby. I have a question on the maternity coverage of health insurances. The fact is our first baby was born in San Francisco, and my wife had a cervix tear in that delivery. We were told that probably she will need a cervix fusion surgery, and possibly she will need C-section when she have a second baby. So, my question is, if this condition is a pre-existing condition if an insurance provide maternity coverage? Could we ask our previous insurance provider during the first-baby delivery for coverage on this issue?
Thank you very much! Sen

We do not have any plans that covers an existing pregnancy. The pregnancy and maternity is covered only if the pregnancy occurred after the insurance plan is effective.
Other than maternity, the below is popular for visiting scholars and satisfies the requirements of J1 Visa and F1 Visa.
The Patriot Exchange insurance plan offered by International Medical Group (IMG) rovides comprehensive insurance for international students (F1 visa) and J1 visa scholars in the USA. It satisfies J1 visa and most US university requirements and is hugely popular.
