Thank you for contacting us regarding your health insurance options. I could not find any specific requirements for your health insurance at VCU. Therefore, any of the options we sell should be fine covering you for your stay in the US. I will suggest a plan called Patriot Exchange. It is designed specifically for international students AND if you use your institution’s health center, you will only pay a $5 copay (instead of a $100 deductible). All our plans are good at any doctor or hospital, so you will not need to worry if a particular hospital or doctor is in your network. Another good thing about this plan is there is NO coinsurance owed after the deductible is paid. This is not very common and together with the $5 copay, makes it a very economical and beneficial plan.
You can purchase the policy with a $50,000 maximum for $760.44 per year. I recommend at least $100,000 max which would cost $882 or more comfortably $250,000 max for about $943. But, as your institution does not have any specific requirements, you can choose whichever you feel is best.
